The Snaith School Creative Arts

The Art and Design department is made up of three Art teachers, Mrs Nichols (Head of Art), Miss Speedy and Miss Bentley. The department also has a valued classroom assistant, Miss Barker. The department has two specialist teaching rooms with 20 computers contained within. In addition the department has a darkroom, kiln and facilities for print making.

Art is a popular and successful subject in both KS3 and KS4 with a large number of KS4 pupils progressing to further study at a number of colleges both near and further afield.

The Art department now offers Photography at KS4 as a GCSE option.

At Key Stage 3 pupils receive one lesson of Music every week. They study the various topics below, incorporating performing, composing, listening and appraising. Activities vary from whole class work (such as a class performance) and smaller group work to paired and individual work.

At The Snaith School we understand both the importance and relevance of Drama and recognize the wide range of ways Drama can influence and develop pupils in today’s society. Drama is an exciting and creative subject that allows all pupils, of all backgrounds and abilities, to learn in a different and imaginative way. Pupils develop their confidence and performance skills while working in groups
and individually.

Subject Leader - Mrs Sampson
