Welcome to Year 11
The crucial and exciting year!
Pupils in Year 11 begin the year looking forward to life beyond school by preparing for and undertaking two weeks of work experience. This includes developing their knowledge and understanding of health and safety within the work place and building up valuable experience of adult life and career aspiration.
This work related theme continues through the Autumn Term ACE day which includes taking part in applying for a job and completing a mock interview with local industry representatives. Pupils complete their common application form for entry into further education as well as developing aspects of personal finance, tax, banking and budgeting in PSHCEE.
All pupils in year 11 leave with a detailed progress file. As part of this process pupils complete a personal statement, illustrate their development of key skills, and develop an action plan for the future.
Of course it is a year for hard work and external exam preparation. There are many revision opportunities available with staff running subject specific revision sessions and there is a Study Skills day and evening for pupils and parents.
Pre Public exams take place in November and February, they serve to inform staff and pupils of areas of strength and areas for development. The results are a time for celebration for many and an opportunity to focus on the exams ahead.
There are many opportunities open to pupils in Key Stage 4; everyone has to the opportunity to apply to become a prefect or a travel prefect. Pupils may decide to put themselves forward to become a peer mentor or a transition buddy.
There are many sporting opportunities available. Pupils may want to take part in these either at lunchtime or after school. The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has been a long standing tradition at Snaith, and is open to pupils in Key Stage 4.
There are many fund raising for charity events and of course the long awaited end of year Ball which a committee of pupils help to plan!
It’s a fun year, hard work and very rewarding.
