Pupil Planners/Emergency Closure Procedures

During the winter months we ask parents to ensure that their child knows what to do if an emergency early closure occurs (this will probably only occur in extreme weather conditions and will in most instances be determined by the availability of school transport).

We ask parents to opt for one of the following options.

We ask pupils to record this option in their school planner. This information is then held centrally.

Procedures

A - My child has access to home at all times and can go home by the means that they normally would do – either by bus or walk

B - Arrangements have been made for my child to go to a relative or friend should an emergency situation arise (parents should detail the name, address and telephone number of the person involved in the back of the pupil planner)

C - My child would normally be picked up from school by car – they should ring a parents/relative before being allowed to leave the school premises

D - My child walks home from school but has no access to home and should be kept at school until 3.35pm.

E - My child catches a bus to school but has no access to home and should be kept at school – parents would need to let us know of the arrangements they are intending to make to ensure their child gets home safely at 3.35pm, given that the school buses may not be available.

On the rare occasion when there is extreme bad weather and school is prevented from opening we will inform BBC Radio Humberside who have regular school closure announcements each morning. Please listen to this station if you feel a closure may be likely. Alternatively this website will give updates.
