Term Time Absences Request
With effect from 01 September 2013 changes to penalty notices for unauthorized school absence based on legislation amending The Education (Penalty Notices) (England) Regulations 2007 will be in place.
These changes are:
• Reduction in the payment period from 28 days to 21 days (initial charge) and 42 days to 28 days (increased charge).
• Increase in initial fine from £50 to £60 and increased charge from £100 to £120.
• Schools will no longer be able to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
In reference to the last point, Head Teachers will therefore not be in a position to authorize any pupil absence from school due to a term time holiday.
If your child requires absence from school for any reason and you feel, having read the “Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Information for Parents” document, this is an exceptional circumstance, please complete the “Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form” and return to the Headteacher or email the Education Welfare Service – education.welfare@eastriding.gov.uk. It is to your advantage to have this discussion prior to any plans being made.
