Transport COVID Update

If your child uses either school or public transport to travel to school, they are required to wear a face covering. Disposable coverings should be thrown away after each use, so it is recommended that reusable cloth coverings are used. These will need to be placed in a sealed plastic bag during the day and then washed for reuse. This is in line with government guidance. If a pupil loses their mask during the school day and requires one for their journey home the school will be able to provide a one-use disposable mask. We are working with bus contractors on the possibility of year group seating plans.

As always our main concern is for the safety of our Pupils.  Quite a lot of our Pupils travel to school by bus, but you may wish for your child to cycle, walk or be brought to school by car. We recognize that it is not always possible to keep year groups separate when travelling to and from school. We ask that parent/carers talk to their child about social distancing measures they should use when with pupils from other year groups who are not in their household and where possible maintaining a 1+m distance. We ask that pupils arrive on time for their year group start of the day and not before, to allow for social distancing thus prevent groups of pupils congregating at the entrances to the school.

Travel to and From School

East Riding of Yorkshire Council provide the home to school transport and their policy determines when a child is eligible for transport. If you live 3 miles or more from school, or if the journey from your home to school is deemed by the Local Authorities to be a hazardous route, your child will be issued with a free bus pass. Those children who live outside our traditional catchment area can buy a daily ticket, a weekly ticket which is cheaper than the daily rate or a four week ticket.

Please note that although we take the safety of our Pupils very seriously any complaints about buses, bus behavior or service provider should be made directly to the Local Authority Home to School coordinator via East Riding of Yorkshire Council website www.buswise.co.uk or by telephone on 08456 445949.

As a school we have no jurisdiction in this area.
