Textiles

Welcome

The Textiles department is a purpose built room which is very well equipped boasting 22 Sewing Machines, 2 Over Lockers and 1 Computerized Sewing Machine.  All pupils throughout Key Stage 3 are given the opportunity to design and make a range of products using a variety of constructive and decorative techniques.

Textiles enables pupils to explore their creative ability through both design and make. We expect our pupils to work hard to achieve their true potential. We provided a creative and stimulating working environment where Every Child Matters.

KS 3 Information

In Key Stage 3 all pupils have the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of projects. Each year pupils consolidate and develop their skills in a wide range of design challenges.  In Key Stage 3, textiles is delivered on a 10 week rotational basis. During the design and make tasks, pupils are encouraged to be creative and develop their own ideas independently and confidently.

KS 4 Information

This interesting and challenging course investigates the wide use of modern fabrics and components integrating the use of Computer Aided Design and industrial practices through designing and making projects. The controlled assessment (coursework) element consists of one product based either on a fashion or furnishing theme that will take the form of a design portfolio and an original practical outcome of high quality.
