Careers Provision at The Snaith School

The Careers Room has recently moved and is now situated upstairs near the Maths classrooms. As well as all the local college prospectuses and various publications packed with careers information there are four computers available for pupils to use during breaks and lunchtimes in order to research a wide variety of online resources (please see the Links section for suggested web addresses). Information on forthcoming career events and college open evenings are also on display in the Careers Room.

The Careers Education Co-ordinator
Mrs Robinson can provide info rmation and support on a range of issues, including Sixth Form/College Applications, Apprenticeships, Options, Work Experience, CV writing, Work Related Learning and Enterprise. Mrs Robinson can be found in the Careers Room upstairs near the Maths classrooms.

 

 

 

 


The Careers Personal Advisor
Helen Howard offers impartial information, advice and guidance on a range of issues but specifically on careers, jobs, training, further and higher education finance and options after Year 11. Helen can be found in Meeting Room 3, next door to the Careers Room, every Wednesday and Thursday.

 

 

 

 


The Work Experience Co-ordinator
Mrs Belton can provide information and support on Work Experience placements prior to and during the two week September programme.Mrs Belton can be found in the office to the rear of the Hall.

 

 

 

 

 


College Lunchtime Sessions
Every Wednesday lunchtime throughout the Autumn term a different local college visits the school to hold information sessions for interested pupils to attend. Pupils are shown a powerpoint presentation about the college, are given the opportunity to ask questions and will receive a prospectus to take home and view at their leisure. 

Career Lessons take place as part of the schools PSHCEE programme and the Alternative Curriculum Experience (ACE) Days, covering topics such as:

  • Career Terminology

  • Decision Making

  • Job Study

  • Effective Communication

  • Mock interviews

  • Job identification

  • Labour Market Information

  • Employability Skills

  • Trust & Team Work
  • Understanding and Creative Thinking
