Specialist School
As a Business and Enterprise School we continue to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. Every child has access to first class Business and Enterprise Education. As a Specialist School we have developed expertise in Business, ICT and Mathematics. We have used our specialist status to raise achievement for all pupils, and develop innovative approaches to learning and teaching. Through our specialism we have aimed to enrich and extend learning by encouraging economic and business understanding. We have developed a variety of enterprise activities and opportunities for pupils to follow. Our curriculum now contains a wide range of vocational and work related learning pathways.
Our specialist status has lead to even closer partnerships with local education providers, including our cluster of primary schools, neighbouring secondary schools, local colleges and HE providers. We are always striving to share resources and develop the sharing good practice. We work closely with the wider community, including business and industry, to enhance the opportunities for lifelong learning within the context of business and enterprise by increasing opportunities and extending our provision.
Our Business curriculum provides all pupils with the skills and knowledge that will improve their employability in the rapidly changing labour market of the 21st century. All pupils will have the opportunity to develop business and economic understanding together with enterprise and financial skills. The use of ICT has become an increasingly important resource for all subjects. The primary aim is to provide greater access to high quality ICT and to encourage pupils to develop their skills as independent learners through the use of ICT. In Mathematics we will continue to promote standards of achievement and increase the number of students who wish to take Mathematics both after GCSE and into Higher Education.
For us, enterprise education is made up of three 3 key strands.
Enterprise Capability
Where we encourage pupils to develop a range of key skills including being creative, innovative, managing risk, problem solving, decision-making etc

Business and Economic Understanding
Where local companies provide staff to support our lessons and pupils have the benefits of visits to companies within the local community.
Financial Literacy
Where we strive to increase pupils' awareness of how to effectively manage their money and to consider the key decisions to be made in the future.
We firmly believe that in developing enterprise skills we are developing essential life long skills; skills such as communication, problem solving, numeracy, team-working, leadership, innovation and resourcefulness are developed throughout all aspects of school life. We aim to equip our pupils with the skills they need to be successful at school and give them an invaluable edge for their university courses and future careers by ensuring that they become independent self-motivated learners.
